Andrea’s Garden: Overwhelmed to Award-Winning

Hi, Reader!!!

Have you ever felt uncertain about starting or improving your garden? Maybe you’re unsure where to begin or worried about common struggles like pests or low yields.

You’re not alone—Andrea Szabo from Hungary felt the same way when she first started gardening on her patio. And look at how it turned out in the end. What was at first a problem of pests and lack of sun and space became a beautiful and delicious sight! She grew her own food here in a shady patio!

When a recession hit Budapest, halting construction on a nearby building, Andrea had a bold idea: Why not transform the empty rubble lot into a community garden?

Fast forward to today, and Andrea is leading an award-winning community garden called Böszikert ("Boszi Garden"). Her garden initiative has been recognized as Hungary’s Most Beautiful Kitchen Garden and has won a special prize in the "Most Beautiful Residential Community Garden" category.

What made the difference?

Alongside Andrea’s curiosity, keen observation, and can-do attitude, she joined the GIY (Grow-It-Yourself) Program. Here, she found the tools, resources, and supportive community she needed to make her vision a reality.

Here’s how the GIY Program helped Andrea:

🍅 Simplify garden planning: Step-by-step guidance turned overwhelming tasks into manageable projects.
🌱 Confidently manage challenges: Personalized advice helped her tackle common issues like pests and soil quality.
🌻 Maximize her community garden’s potential: In just one season, what was once an unusable space blossomed into a thriving community garden with over 80 plant varieties per bed.

Andrea’s journey didn’t stop at her own patio—she brought her community along for the ride. Now, Böszikert is a lush urban oasis that hosts school visits, birthday parties, and curious neighbors eager to see what’s growing.

As Andrea puts it (translated from Hungarian): "Everyone can grow vegetables for themselves that are far tastier than what they can buy in stores. But the time spent caring for plants is about more than food—it brings people together."

Here’s a photo of Andrea (2nd from L) receiving her award and the lush Böszikert garden she helped create:

I’ve known Andrea for a few years now, and I recently told her, “Andrea, everything you touch transforms into something better." Not only does she transform the community she lives in, but she also uplifts overwhelmed work teams through her business, Stress-Free Team. Her determination and creativity inspire everyone around her to thrive—whether it’s in the garden or the workplace.

If you’ve been dreaming of a garden transformation like Andrea’s, the GIY Program is here to guide you every step of the way.

In my next email, I’ll share simple techniques that our members use to boost yields with minimal effort.

Grow abundantly!
