How Nisi & Chris are Gardening Year Round

Hi, Reader!!!

Have you ever looked at your garden and thought,

“Where do I even begin?”

Nisi and Chris Hamilton felt the same when they started their gardening journey.

The Hamiltons had:

  • A bamboo-spreading problem,
  • Compacted clay soil that seemed impossible to work with,
  • Weeds, and
  • Drainage issues that added to their frustration

Like many, they were unsure how to tackle these problems or where to focus their efforts.

But they had a vision: to create a garden to nourish their family and provide a space to reconnect with nature.

So, they decided to join our Grow-It-Yourself (GIY) Program.

What happened next was nothing short of inspiring. With

  • Personalized guidance,
  • A supportive community, and a
  • A few key permaculture strategies

Nisi and Chris transformed their yard. They turned what once felt like a frustrating problem into an abundant, thriving garden.

Here’s how the GIY Program helped Nisi and Chris:

🌾 Tackling tough soil: They learned how to improve their clay soil using simple permaculture techniques such as lasagna gardening. Over time, their garden beds became easier to work with and more productive. We've got a blog on composting, but GIY members get a self-paced course on composting in different ways and 1:1 consultation about how to do this in their context.

🌻 Designing a resilient landscape: The program provided a step-by-step process to create a garden plan that worked with their unique space.

🌿 Boosting yields with minimal effort: By implementing techniques like companion planting and cover cropping, they saw healthier plants and fewer weeds. Take a look at their plant spacing. They learned from experience what proper spacing could do to guard against weeds, but also that too close a spacing led to fewer yields.

Here are some pictures of their progress:

In the beginning, they used what they had.

Then they improved upon these beds and created their own trellises.

More garden beds came, and now there are even new fruit tree plantings in this once forsaken area.

Nisi says it best: “GIY gave me hope when I thought I had none. My garden became my safe place, and it was so wonderful to see our harvest increase!”

Now, as Nisi and Chris enjoy their flourishing garden, they’re living proof that small changes you implement can lead to big transformations.

Our GIY Program gives members these kinds of insights and more. With resources like:

  • Weekly live sessions,
  • Seasonal workshops, and
  • One-on-one support

But what if I don't have the time to do this gardening stuff?

Do you have 15 minutes every day? See how much faster and how much more you can grow with consistent, dedicated efforts in a short amount of time.

GIY takes the guesswork out of gardening and helps you grow with confidence. If you want this for yourself or a loved one, then...

Grow abundantly!
