Your interior life has to be just that: to begin… and to begin again. - St Josemaría Escrivá, The Way. Hi Reader, I just came from a three-day spiritual, silent retreat. If you've never been to one, I highly recommend it. I am renewed, refreshed and ready to share something Dave and I have been planning for a few months now. It was built for people who wanted to learn everything at once. And a lot of people did. But we kept hearing a version of the same thing: “I feel like I'm behind on my garden." We believe, you are never truly behind. A year is a long time to stay focused on anything. And honestly, gardening doesn’t work in one big annual block anyway. It works in seasons. Life, like our gardens, is seasonal. So we’re redesigning GIY to match the way gardens actually grow. Starting in January, GIY becomes four standalone short courses:
Each one is nine weeks. You can take one at a time, or commit to all four. Either way, you’re never six months behind on a program you bought. We’re opening enrollment on Black Friday, November 27. If you want to hear about it first, and to get early access to our Black Friday pricing, the waitlist is open now.
More details coming soon. Grow abundantly, |

Hi Reader! A Seed Saving Mistake This summer our kids shelled a big batch of beans and cowpeas. We poured them straight into glass jars. A few weeks later, every jar had molded. The pods weren’t dry enough. Why We Save Seeds Every seed has a future inside of it. I love the word “steward,” because saving seed lets us keep that future for the next generation. Our seed shop (pictured above) is our little Noah’s ark, keeping seeds safe through the winter. It reminds me of the enslaved Africans...

Last Friday, Dave and I welcomed something new to Bethany Farm. A robot. When Dave powered "Gather," the robot, up for the first time, the chickens were curious. Why a Farm Robot? Most agricultural technology is built for large commercial operations. Very little of it is designed for small farms like ours. When Suma Reddy and her team reached out about piloting the robot she’s been building, I asked her why this project mattered to her. Her answer: She wants to make farming possible for...
